Left or Right Wing, America’s Current Civil War.

Posted by Enkill_Eridos on June 22, 2009

Maybe it is the “medication” i have been taking but I was watching a movie called “Steal This Movie.” it was a movie about the activist Abbie Hoffman. For those who do not know who Abby Hoffman is go to your favorite torrent search engine find this movie and download it. He also wrote the book “Steal This Book.” Do the same as above. Under normal circumstances, I would say buy this movie but this one instance it seems to honor the spirit of the movie. The movie takes place during the “Flower Child” movement. Abbie Hoffman actually coined the phrase. While watching this movie I started to think about the whole left-wing, right-wing argument. Even though liberal and conservative thoughts have been around since the beginning of established governments. The life of Socrates is really a good example of this statement. But I believe the left-wing, right-wing argument; or what I would call Political Civil War, really started in the late sixties during the Nixon administration. I really do not need to overview what happened during the Nixon administration because we just had eight years of history repeating itself.

My comparison blog post between the Bush Administration and the Nixon Administration is for another topic and I will not ramble about this. But the most imporant thing I will say regarding comparison between the two is that both periods have stirred up this argument in people. I may or may not post something dealing on this comparison. Let me ask everyone a question, when you think of a conservative what is the first thing about that person do you think about? What is the first thing about a Liberal what is the first thing you think of? Now let me tell you what I see. When I think of a conservative I think button down bible thumping christian wearing a suit and telling me how to think. When I think of a Liberal I think hippie looking person telling me what they think and challenging me to think differently. Where this was at one time an accurate view it no longer is. Or maybe never was. I know Democratic Christian Conservatives, I know Pagan Republican Liberals. I am a Democrat, I am also a member of the NRA and believe that Gun Control is the biggest joke ever told. The old views of how things are need to be thrown away. Just because everyone says it is this way. Let me ask a question who is everyone? What authority do they have to tell you how things are. Think for yourselves I will be lying if I say I don’t care if you agree with me or not. So a more truthful statement is I want you to agree with me, but if you do not I want to know why. There is a War going on in America. There are no guns, no death, or physical destruction. What is happening is this, families are being torn apart, our government and country are divided on an intellectual level. We as a whole do not know what we want. Lately with the internet we do not know what is true and what is not. Misinformation is the biggest weapon any political writer, activist, or journalist has.

Misinformation was used to discredit Abbie Hoffman by the Nixon Administration. Now Misinformation is used a lot more. This is mainly used by the media, Hannity uses misinformation against liberals. As he uses his own prejudices when talking to liberals, or talking about his opinion this can be noticed. Misinformation is used in political campaigns. This technique is used a lot, I can give a lot more examples, but there are more things I want to say. This technique is very effective and is overused. God forbid people think for themselves by giving them actual unbiased information. Which in it comes into politics a majority of political arguments are opinions anyway. Opinions are biased. Information that will keep peoples attention usually have to seem credible to that audience. This information is really Misinformation, it is one sided information and you never get all of it. For example When a news caster says “The CIA interrogation is under investigation because it is questionable.” That news cast will probably not tell you that those techniques labeled as torture gets credible results. They do not say exactly what practices are in question. We assume Abu Garib style things being done. We assume water boarding and all of the other torture examples ever given. But they do not say that giving a person the bare minimum of sustenance and sleep is the most commonly used and is the most effective. They do not say how many attacks against Americans are subverted because of these actions. Why? Because they don’t really want you to know the complete facts. What I just said is not the complete facts either just an example. I urge you the reader to look at both sides toe the line, be Switzerland. It is hard but you may learn something. To break the cycle and stop this Political Civil War, I challenge you to look at an issue differently from the other side of the argument. We all will disagree, but we do not need to make it uncivil. If someone disagrees with you on something and you have given your full view shake your head and say okay. Kicking a dead horse will not make the horse any deader. Arguing about political views will not make either side more right or more wrong. If you don’t choose a side great. If you do that is good too but I urge everyone to keep an open mind. Let’s keep this Civil War contained to the intellectual battlefield. We are approaching a new era, one where I believe our views will start to shift. Things will start to change, why should we resist it?

good call, e_e. the ‘conservative’ and ‘liberal’ divide is getting wider and more bitter. our new “civil war”. problem is when one side is running on emotion and self-righteousness, there is no open mind. everyone is entitled to their own views but there are those that insist that their beliefs are the only true beliefs. when questioned, they get angry and resentful and you get accused of being ignorant and then you get a big ‘liberal’ label on your forehead. personally, i don’t like that label. i vote democrat and am pro-choice and am for human rights. i also believe that sterilization of the psychologically unfit and irresponsible is not a bad idea. isn’t that fascist-like? eugenics. is that liberal? we live in these times where there are gay republicans, anti-abortion atheists, jews for jesus and other unusual contradictions. why even attempt to label oneself or others conservative or liberal? i think people are comfortable with identifying themselves as something or another because it gives the feeling of belonging. anyway, let’s make like switzerland (without the nazi gold stash) and be neutral in this here ADKOB blog shall we…but i’d like to be excused today since i’m sleep-deprived and REMless and will say anything for a nice chocolate shake and a nice comfortable bed to sleep in all day!

not trying to be a smart ass, but, misinformation is false information that is spread unintentionally. it is distinguished from disinformation by motive in that misinformation is simply erroneous, while disinformation is intended to mislead.
    i got that from wikipedia.

it is kind of hard to tell the difference, for me anyway.
and even harder to keep an open mind when i hear someone demonizing a person or groups of people with lies.

i think lately that the best way that i can stay out of it is too bury my head in the sand with ummm….’medication’ and video games.

by the way, e_e, i just got http://cdn.prototypegame.com/prototype/us/index.html

3rd person rpg open world. everyone is your enemy and you can eat them all. my idea of a good time.

  4. Eugenics is not what everyone thinks it is. Hitler called his plan part of the Eugenics practice which is not at all what it is. There will be a day when Eugenics prevails when we are all one color due to different cultures and ethnicities mixing like they never have before. There are more “inter-racial” marriages and children everyday. I don’t like that word inter-racial. It makes me think of a chihuahua and a dachshund and not people. I would say that color of skin would not be issue in our great great great grandchildrens’ lifetime.

in the future, we are all going to be grey anyway.

it’s funny, when i read your post this morning at the same time CNN reported about the Nixon tapes. Before Bush, Nixon was probably the worst president. i don’t remember much about his presidency other than i thought all politics are crooked. and that he looked like a cross between a bulldog and some other creature. a toad maybe. inter-species.
who knows, i was high his entire term. same with bush’s. it made it more bearable.

about this Political Civil War, well, i think it is only going to get uglier.
at least until we breed the republicans out.

well then okay. i am for new world order. not in the sinister, despotic and oppressive definition that the conspiracy theorists are talking about but one that is unchaotic and efficient, filled with happy shiny people. i prefer to call it ‘one world order’. united nations, nato, etc.. has the right idea.i would like a world with only one political party. bipartisan. i also want religions to be considered just an option, like a school elective along with pottery, woodworking and the like. there are no serpentine, luciferian nwo masters taking over the world. princess’ grey friends are out there, yes, but i don’t think they’re interested in mix breeding with us terrestrials. although the e.ts probably think some of us are cute, our species way too primitive and unevolved for them. we are amusing, though, enough so that they take one or two on occasion for a good probing. hitler’s eugenics like hitler’s swastika. corrupted and twisted.

  7. i have to confess, e_e. I hate right wing republicans.
and i’ve had about as much as i can stomach from them..
    limbaugh, o’reilly, hannity, coulter, rove….bush, cheney..palin.pat robertson..on & on.
all of them fear and hatemongers.

i would like to ignore and hope they go away, but that ain’t gonna happen.

so, in the words of Eric Cartman from Southpark.
“you gotta fight hate with more hate”.

no one will ever accuse me of being a peacenik hippy.

Hey, e_e, what i would like to hear about is your experience as a iraqi vet. have you posted anything about that?
i’m most curious about how you felt about what your real mission was over there.
did you feel like you were fighting for america or for bush cheney oil?
i dunno, i have no idea about what it would be like to be over there. or anything about it, really.

I am glad to hear that our troops will be leaving the cities and returning to their bases within a few days.

anyway, if you care to share. if not, that is ok, too.

oh, and d9, guess who just turned grey yesterday?

michael jackson & Farrah Fawcett and probably tons of others we will never know about.

  9. To sun up: what the world needs now is a great big melting pot big enough big enough big enough to take the world and all it’s got, and furthermore to then turn out coffee coulured people by the score.
But whether capuccino, latte, expresso, ristretto, babycino, or as we have here flat whites and long or short blacks, only time will tell……..

i prefer stripes to solids. how about espresso colored with baby blue stripes? i’m bored with monochromes and solids. capuccino people coming out of a big melting pot. hm. sounds like one of my dreams, betty!
on that note i’ll have some tea and butter biscuits. PG tips, tetley or typhoo? i’m bummed because same time last year i was having yummy essex strawberries topped with cornish clotted cream with my grandma in her bungalow in epping, watching wimbledon live on the telly and now i’m not…

princess i think all those right wing republicans you mentioned remind me of a movie i just saw, it’s called inkheart with brendan fraser. they’re just fictional characters or cartoons. they can’t be real people.
