keller didn’t have the right marketing strategy. an article on cbs news:

(CBS) They are the faces of today’s televangelists.

    # Kenneth Copeland boasts a world-wide following.
    # Bennie Hinn has multiple TV shows.
    # Paula White is a talk show regular.
    # Eddie Long received a faith-based grant from the Bush Administration.
    # Joyce Meyer has written more than 70 inspirational books.
    # Creflo Dollar’s message has been called the “gospel of bling.”

Because they run churches they do not have to file tax forms with the IRS. So it’s unclear how many millions – or billions – are collected every year.
And it’s uncertain how all the money is spent, CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian reports.

“Rolls Royces, Bentleys … a marble commode in an expensive home: that’s a lot of money down the toilet,” said Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.

Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, capped a two-year investigation on Monday by requesting financial records from six top televangelists to see whether they are helping others – or themselves.

Today, five of six denied any wrongdoing to CBS News. One did not respond to calls for comment.

“My goal for reform is not necessarily to pass laws but to make sure the laws are being followed,” Grassley said.

Ole Anthony, director of the Trinity Foundation, has been on a 20-year-crusade to expose TV ministers who abuse the faith of others.

“They live like multi-billionaires off the income from the poorest and most desperate people in our society,” he said.

Some of these televangelists preach the so-called “gospel of prosperity.”

Now a powerful Republican senator has demanded they all provide financial records by early December – to determine if they are living that gospel as well.

    “reaching the marketplace”?

Huhu^^ The spiritual niche needs to be filled, the concurrence is the best way to ensure Jesus gets the best prayers from the professionals^^

The religion business is marvelous: you sell nothing to people, and they’re ready to buy. How ingenious.

creflo dollar, i hate him as much as i do keller. a disgusting man who preaches about nothing but money.
truthfully dorian, all the “ministers’ you mention above are slimey whores.
it really is too bad there is no afterlife punishment for these people.

i should grab my rosary, (which are really just anal beads) and pray they all get busted like keller.

See.. you guys are convieniently missing a very obvious point here … if Bill was like those other televangelists he WOULD still be going strong. His integrity and sincerity is showing here.

P, you criticize Bill for asking for money and then when it is obvious why.. you don’t acknowledge that.

He does have faults… but clearly, he is not a “phony”.

And Hors… you keep blaming religion for the faults of humans. When are liberals going to quit blaming Christianity for the actions of a few? Clearly, these people, especially the list in Dorian’s comment, are not true Christians. Prosperity preaching is their “niche”, their tool to obtain as much money as possible for themselves. Bill refuses to do that.. it’s not the message that Jesus wants us to learn…

Again, Bill’s integrity is obvious here but you guys don’t want to admit it.

now kay, this sounds like you are playing dumb like your daschund.

none of the above mentioned televangelists have any integrity.
perhaps the others have more charisma, therefore more money.
but, they are all dishonest crooks, all of them, hiding behind religion and 501c-3 tax free status and raking in the wealth.

creflo dollar, for instance, has been fighting the congressional investigation, because he has a lot to hide. i am going to post on him later, because, i think i hate him more than keller.

i do admit, there is truth in the “christian trough’ theory of keller’s.
my aunt & uncle used to send lots of money to Jim & Tammy Faye PTL.
and my aunt still orders those, “the end is near” books for “love gifts” of $25. that are being sold on all the christian shows.

seriously, a person that believes the bible doesn’t need to buy any of tim lahayes “left behind”
or various “how to survive armeggedon” books. or paula whites, “christian finances” or joyce meyers, “how to wipe your ass with expensive toilet paper” dvd’s.

there is a lot of money to be made doing such things, and i am sure keller, while in prison, figured that would be his next, “get rich quick scheme”.

It’s the first time I’ve heard about Bill Keller, and it’s true that I’m prejudiced against preachers.

But I’ve met a lot of honest and faithfull catholic priests, some of them with very right-wing morality. This clown doesn’t comes near. The more I read his political marketing ads, the further he gets from them.

    Gosh, this was absolutely subjective^^

    Kay, he mentioned “marketplace”.

    Point. He wasn’t even ironic.

    It’s how he consider people.
    Open your eyes.
