The Mob Mentality

is this is the face of anti-health care reform protest? a disturbing picture.
USAlynchingbook3

another disturbing picture.

Alarmist tactics and cheap shots in the ’08 presidential campaign by the neocon base are being deployed in protesting obama’s  healthcare reform bill. one does not need to be prophetic to predict what is predictable. we are talking about the Mob Mentality. americans should not be so ethnocentric. we must compare our country’s health care system with those of our neighbor canada and the continents of europe and australia. their nationalized health care system is serving the needs of their citizens much better than the self-serving insurance companies that we have in this country.  but there’s hope.  just like the ’08 presidential elections, common sense and dignity will win out again. the mob mentality should just be honest. they just don’t like the president ←click on link and the fact that he and his administration is getting this country away from the road back to salem massachusetts, 1692 a.d.

“The main factors that started and fueled the trials were politics, religion, family feuds, economics, and the imaginations and fears of the people…”  http://www.salemwitchtrials.com/salemwitchcraft.html

in my opinion, the biggest block to the evolution of the american society was brought here by some english outcasts on ships, the same ones responsible for the the salem witch trials. the same puritan ‘morals’ continue to resurface to this day. the moral outrage of the mob has nothing to do with policy. it’s all about their fears and contempt for beliefs that are different from theirs. the words ‘socialist’ and ‘marxist’ are being shouted. ‘we want our america back’, they say. which america is that, i wonder? here is a wise old woman’s opinion:

http://margaretandhelen.wordpress.com/2009/08/12/i-remember-an-america-where-black-men-didn/

i share helen’s opinion on this issue, except for the beauty parlor thing once a week.
what was one of the first things president obama made happen in his first 100 days in office? he lifted george w. bush’s ban on stem cell research. bravo. unlike bush and his war criminal cohorts, he did his research and knows that stem cells can be derived not just from dead embryos and that stem cell treatments can save many lives. now we can catch up with the rest of the civilized countries and possibly find a cure for cancer and the other debilitating diseases.

Dorian, you are now guilty of the very thing that you are accusing the healthcare reform protesters of doing… making unfounded accusations… WHERE do you get your information that supports your insinuations and claims that the protesters are racists? That THAT is the reason they are protesting Obama? It’s ridiculouse and not true (for the majority.. exceptions? of course, in every group)… what you should do is post the actual words to back up their position, that as you claim is of a racist nature. Like, for example, what I did by posting Sarah Palin’s exact words that EXPLAIN why she has taken the position that she has… which, by the way, I’m still waiting for you to approve so everyone can read it here.

accusations? they are opinions, kay. i am entitled to post my opinions, as you are. if you you or anyone can say that obama is muslim or that he was not born in this country, i can say that in my opinion, there is racism base in some of the healthcare protests, just like there was in the ‘o8 presidential election raliies, as evidenced by the palin campaign video i linked to the above post.

i must have missed more from the queue, i’ll check if it’s there. i don’t know why it’s happening again. maybe it’s in the spam queue, some go there directly. let me check…

Dorian, I didn’t say you weren’t entitled to post your opinions… what I did was point out what I saw as hypocrisy.

You said: ” i can say that in my opinion, there is racism base in some of the healthcare protests,”

    Key word “some”.

That’s not what you said in your post…

” the moral outrage of the mob has nothing to do with policy. it’s all about their fears and contempt for beliefs that are different from theirs.”

This is an accusation against all of those protesting Obama’s bill. The people carrying signs and speaking their minds are a “mob” and they are motivated by their “fears and contempt for beliefs that are different from theirs”.

This is just not true…YOU are now feeding into the “mob” mentality by making those accusations! please read Palin’s commentary and then make any counterpoints you might have.. that is the way to debate this… not by making generalized accusations without anything to back them up. Only comparing them to UNRELATED events in history, this is just more mob mentality fuel and nothing more. Those “mobs” are doing it right… by carrying signs and presenting their points… HOW in the world did THIS now become “wrong”??? More of that “great” liberalism in action… man… talk about a mob mentality!!

None of the Scot in you… huh Dorian? You do this every time… and I’m going to say it again… if you can no longer argue your view then maybe it’s time to reconsider your view? Right? I’m so tired of people giving up… where is your dignity?? Betty, Hors, Dorian and P… you guys should be making honest responses to end your debates if you have nothing else to say… something like ” you’ve made a good point and I will consider it”…instead I get silence or “there are no counterpoints. i posted my statements and opinions, that’s all i wanted to do, and i stand by them.” Sorry to be so confrontational but I’m not here to “play nice”… I’m interested in finding solutions and truths to serious issues. If I’ve made valid points, they should be acknowledged, that is only fair… if no one has any counterpoints then it would seem that that would be the case wouldn’t it?

More and more the truth is showing itself and it always falls on the side of conservatism. The liberals just run and hide.

Just for me, I’m writing a response to your latest post in “A Debate Page”, but it takes time. I’m at the point where I got 3 pages of Word, size 10. If you note, each answer that we posted is followed by a longer one, so it’s normal that it could get very long…

By the way, I’m still waiting for your answer on “A Caveman view on abortion”, about sex.
Could you be a bit more self-coherent in your critics?

Of course, you could recognize that I’ve made some valid points, but I don’t really expect so…

yes i do have to run because i have to work but maybe later i will tell you about my not so liberal ideas on eugenics and forced sterilization for the benefit of our country. no scot in me except for glen livet and glen fiddich but i do have the english.

in the meantime, talk to my new grandmother@ http://margaretandhelen.wordpress.com . she’s old and doesn’t care squat about being pc.

i read your palin.how about reading what she has to say about The Mob??

“Margaret is it just me or did combing your hair become optional when going out in public? I’ve been watching news clips of these town hall free-for-alls and we have definitely become a nation of tired, poor, and huddled masses clearly tempest-tossed, but without access to a good beauty salon. Universal Hygiene – now that is something I could get behind. And all of them are asking for their America back. I wonder which America that would be?

Would that be the America where the Supreme Court picks your president instead of counting all the votes? Would that be the America where rights to privacy are ignored? Would that be the America where the Vice President shoots his best friend in the face? Or would that be the America where an idiot from Alaska and a college drop-out with a radio show could become the torchbearers for the now illiterate Republican party?

I fear that would not be the America they want back. I fear that the America they want back is the one where black men don’t become President.

I remember that America. In that America people screaming at public gatherings were called out for what they were – an angry mob. Of course, they wore sheets to cover up their bad hair. Let’s be clear about something: if you show up to a town hall meeting with a gun strapped to your leg, the point you are trying to make isn’t a good one. Fear never produced anything worthwhile.

And what’s all this crap about killing your grandmother? Are you people honestly that stupid? This has become less an argument about healthcare reform and more a statement about our failed education system. Margaret, I don’t know what plans you’ve made up there with Howard, but down here with Harold, we have living wills to determine how we will leave this world when the time comes. Mine states that unless the feeding tube is large enough for a piece of pie, I don’t want to be hooked up to it. Harold, of course, says his can only be connected to him if the other end is connected to a bottle of single malt scotch.

Now shame on me for making a joke about a serious subject, but if these morons are going to show up and scream at their elected officials, they need to educate themselves about the subject at hand. No one is planning on killing you or your grandmother with rationed healthcare or death squads. By the looks of the American citizenry turning out for these town hall meetings, we’re doing a fine job of killing ourselves with fast food, cigarettes and an overindulgence of ignorance.

The Founding Fathers couldn’t have seen this coming. If they had, the right to free speech would have been conditional upon one’s ability to read. But the Founding Fathers didn’t plan on the likes of Palin, Cheney and Limbaugh.

I too long for the America I remember as a child, Margaret. The one where men used guns to hunt quail and women visited a beauty salon at least once a week. Oh, those were the days. I wish we had them back. I mean it. Really.”
