interesting. well i’m not surprised at the venue. there’s no other place like vegas, it’s a surreal world all on it’s own with its own set of rules. a business associate said that after the mob left, the metro police took over.

this group is a by-product of the conservative fringe. it’s screaming paranoia. this country imposing martial law, internment camps for citizens? is this a third world country and what year is this? not a militant anti-obama group? hehe. who do you think they’re talking about with that slogan “we will not obey”?

they can set up camp right next to Area 51.

I have already taken this oath, when I enlisted. Do you know what pisses me off? People calling this group a radical or extremist group. This is a group (Protected by the Constitution of the United States) that is not saying it is going to happen. This is a group that is going to resist IF it happens. Many of the I will not Obey things, are orders that go against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. One of these rights is the right to form a militia or any other political group. Most Libertarians do not think that these things are going to happen. But it is good that there is a group that will not follow the orders of a man, because men can be corrupted, and uphold the founding ideals of this country. Also this group does not say anything that will potentially disrupt the chain of command. There are unreasonable commands that should be disregarded. Like when an Officer or Non-Commissioned Officer, gives you a command that can jepordize your unit, or squad. Or when his or her orders, goes against the Geneva Convention. But there are very rarely cases that involve something like this. I mean there were some suspected “domestic terrorists” arrested and not tried held in Gitmo. Obama has rectified Bush’s mistake, or is working to rectify all of those mistakes. We are not extremists, we think that every American Citizen has rights.(When I say we I mean Patriots, and Libertarians) These rights are in the Constitution, any organization, or governmental official trying to pass a law that is unconstitutional, the people are allowed to speak against it. I read every proposed Bill, with the intention that if it goes against the constitution it should be spoken out against. (I have RSS subscriptions that alert me.) I have done this after the Patriot Act. Well before this organization was founded. But when I had to read the Patriot Act to become a surety agent, there are things in it that are unconstitutional. The Patriot Act is just a pretty name to get congresspersons to vote for it , this was done after a huge American Tragedy. I think I may be joining this organization.

Oh and the oath of Enlistment actually is this: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

I take the first part seriously, that part I believe I must follow for the rest of my life. The second part only applies if I am in the Military which I have been honorably discharged from. I am a private citizen now and I follow the first part of the Oath of Enlistment. I believe the second part no longer applies to me since I am no longer punishable byt the UCMJ. But the service members do have to realize they are, and they must follow the Commander in Chiefs orders, and officers orders. “As long as they are lawful orders, and do not conflict with federal law, UCMJ, and the Geneva Convention.” That was a paraphrased line from the UCMJ that gave reasons for insubordination.

i don’t foresee any martial law in the near future so the “i will not obey” group won’t be enforcing their creed just yet. i’m wondering – were the oathkeepers this active under bush? why all of a sudden is there an increase in recruitment and membership? i think the teabagger movement has inspired this new crop. there seems to be more emphasis on the “i will not obey” clause. i just hope that they truly are patriots in the true sense of the word.

    About OathKeepers

Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving military, veterans, peace officers, and firefighters who will fulfill the oath we swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.

Our oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and we will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders, such as orders to disarm the American people or to place them under martial law and deprive them of their ancient right to jury trial.

We Oath Keepers have drawn a line in the sand. We will not “just follow orders.”

Our motto is “Not on our watch!”

If you, the American people, are forced to once again fight for your liberty in another American Revolution, you will not be alone. We will stand with you.

There is at this time a debate within the ranks of the military regarding their oath. Some mistakenly believe they must follow any order the President issues. But you can rest assured that many others in the military do understand that their loyalty is to the Constitution, and understand what that means.

The mission of Oath Keepers is to vastly increase their numbers. We are in a battle for the hearts and minds of our own troops. To win that battle, Oath Keepers will use written and video testimony of active duty military, veterans (especially combat vets), and peace officers to reach, teach, and inspire our brothers in arms in the military and police to fulfill their oaths and stand as guardians of the Republic.

If you are currently in the military, are a veteran, or are a peace officer, please submit your written and/or video testimony on your oath, so you can help us win that battle for hearts and minds. Your submission may be anonymous.

Guardians of the Republic, fulfill your oath. Join us.

We are not advocating or promoting any particular form of government other than the Constitutional Republic which the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution defined and instituted.

We are not advocating or promoting the rewriting of the Constitution nor are we asking for an Amendment thereto. We are insisting on the Constitution being Enforced as it is written.

We are Not advocating or promoting any act or acts of aggression against any organization or person for any
reason including, but not limited to; race, religion, national origin, political affiliation, gender or sexual orientation.

We hope for a return to a Constitutional Republic free from fear and hatred. We hate only tyranny.

We are Oath Sworn Americans who want the Constitution returned to its legal and rightful place, intact, as the ultimate Law of the Land.

e_e, if you believe the oathkeepers are true non partisan guardians and keepers of the fire, then i’ll trust that they’re the real thing and that they’re not something that sprang out of the rightwing serpent’s head. maybe they are the new world order’s warriors. i like that.
