No Blagojevich… As Court Asked to Declare Him ‘Unfit to Serve’

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan asks the state’s highest court to strip scandal-plagued Gov. Rod Blagojevich of his powers today during a press conference in Springfield, Ill.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked the state Supreme Court today to declare Governor Rod Blagojevich “unable to service,” setting in motion a process that could force him out of office by the end of the day. A spokesman for the Governor told ABC News that Blagojevich has no plans to resign, “at least today.”

Confident It’s Caylee

The defense team for the mother of missing Florida girl Caylee Anthony said the sheriff’s office is confident that skeletal remains found are those of the child.

Linda Kenney Baden, part of 22-year-old Casey Anthony’s defense team, said the Orange County Sheriff’s Office called them to say they believe the bones discovered in a wooded area near the Anthony home belong to Caylee because of the color of the hair and the appearance of the skull.

The skeletal remains of a small child were found Thursday near the home of missing Orlando girl Caylee Anthony’s family.

There was no immediate word on whether the bones, reportedly discovered wrapped in a plastic bag and bound with duct tape, were those of a boy or a girl.

Auto Bailout Talks Collapse in the Senate

WASHINGTON (AP) — A $14 billion emergency bailout for U.S. automakers collapsed in the Senate Thursday night after the United Auto Workers refused to accede to Republican demands for swift wage cuts.

The collapse came after bipartisan talks on the auto rescue broke down over GOP demands that the United Auto Workers union agree to steep wage cuts by 2009 to bring their pay into line with Japanese carmakers.
